Since 1961, these folks have been quietly funneling proceeds right back into San Diego — funding youth programs, backing places like Monarch School for kids experiencing homelessness, and supporting junior golf education around the county. It's a group of local business and community leaders who volunteer their time and connections, not just write checks. Back in 2011 they gave over $1.3 million to more than 200 different charities. So next time you hear "Century Club," think less "golf tournament" and more "this city's quiet philanthropy machine that happens to use golf to get it done."
