The world needs more Rotarians, says Dianne Crawford
Dianne Crawford is the current Club Secretary of the Rotary Club of Southeast San Diego. The club has earned Rotary International’s Distinguished Presidential Citation for the past fourteen consecutive years. With only 20 members it is known as “the small club doing BIG THINGS!”  Dianne’s unique and creative approach to business, and expertise in training and organization development, has enabled her to make significant contributions that have improved district programs and club support.

This dynamic speaker claims that the world needs more Rotarians. Why? Because Rotary’s volunteer workforce = 47 MILLION HOURS A YEAR and counting. That is equivalent to nearly 27,000 full time workers. Rotary SAVES communities nearly $850 MILLION in service costs, while providing innumerable opportunities for service projects that benefit the world.

Dianne emphasized the many benefits of membership in Rotary such as the Opportunity to Serve, Personal Growth, Leadership Development, Community and World Citizenship, Cultural Awareness and Friendship – to mention just a few. She urged all clubs to be more welcoming and flexible in terms of the types of membership they offered as well as staggering meeting times and locations to suit the needs of a wider variety of members. Her emphasis on the importance of increasing membership, presented in an engaging and dynamic way, left everyone feeling energized and hopeful.
