DEL MAR SOLANA BEACH ROTARY CLUB CELEBRATES 20TH ANNIVERSARY

A superb venue, bubbly champagne, scrumptious food, and a lively band made for a spectacular 20th anniversary party

for the Del Mar Solana Beach Rotary Club.  The fun filled evening (including bunny hop/congo lines which reminded members

of American Bandstand days) was held at Morgan Run Country Club in Rancho Santa Fe and planned by social chair

Roseann Piazza-Jones. Current Club President Kirk Collins (absent his wife Glenda who has preceded him in their

move to Australia) and the club’s first President, Kevin Cahill, led the festivities and highlighted the terms of the club’s

past presidents.

Patricia Case and Jan Parsons reveled in the applause as being the only two presidents in the clubs history to hold onto

the gavel all year.   Paul Butler (The Butler Did It… real estate agent), President 2009-2010, came in his trademark tux

with wife Mary dressed in cocktail attire to match. Art Mendoza’s rein as President was remembered for his “articles” from

the National Inquirer and handing out piggy banks. The evening gave him and wife Tina a night out from their little one.

Charles Foster’s term as President yielded the most new members present and lovely wife Alicia joined in congratulating him.

Vicki and Nigel Mallett, both past Presidents, were the first married couple in the club, but were joined last year when

members Roseann Piazza and Randy Jones wed. The camaraderie and closeness formed over the past twenty years

is fondly remembered by all and this close Rotary family looks forward to the next twenty years of fun and friendship as

they help those less fortunate in the world.
